Bridge Tournament Raises Funds For Charity
Bridge Tournament Raises Funds For Charity
November 30,
2009
The
Montclair Independent Living Retirement Community is the place to be in Springfield if you are an
avid Bridge player – especially when the proceeds go to a worthy local charity
Residents and staff associates at The Montclair join together to plan, organize,
advertise, host and enjoy the annual Bridge Tournament extravaganza. The
Tournament draws Bridge Players from miles around for a marathon afternoon of friendly
cards as well as an opportunity to help out those in need.
Approximately
60 people participate including residents and non-resident guests. The
competition is fierce but all in good fun. A small registration fee is charged
with all proceeds going to a charity designated by the Bridge Tournament
Committee.
Even residents who don’t necessarily play Bridge like to be
involved in the festivities. They, as well as, The Montclair staff associates
also make contributions to make the Fund Raiser as successful as possible.
Staff at the community also look forward to the Tournament and root for their
favorite resident players. “It’s a good time and it’s for a good cause,” they
say.
This last
tournament raised $1,195 which went to Care to Learn, a project to meet health, hunger
and hygiene needs of students in local schools.
